IT TallaghtThe Challenge

TL Marketing have been working with IT Tallaght since 2013 planning and implementing a number of highly successful marketing activities. We provide everything from strategy and planning to social media and event management. We also carry out school liaisons, developing relationships with schools in the catchment area with a view to booking presentations with leaving cert students and encouraging Guidance Counsellors to visit and recommend the college to students.

There are a number of challenges to overcome with a project like this, such as competition with other IOT’s and Universities in Dublin and the lack of awareness among the general public as to the benefits of an IOT and the differences in the approach to learning.

Ultimately, our goal is to promote a huge recruitment drive within the catchment area.

The Strategy

Following an in-depth review of the college, courses, student experience and future development ambitions, we created a presentation which we would then go on to deliver up to 130 times per year to prospective students in schools across Dublin, Kildare, Meath and Wicklow. This required us to forge strong relationships with Guidance Counsellors, which was one of the key successes of our role with IT Tallaght.

We managed all events on site (20 – 2,000 attendees) such as Open Evenings and the annual Open Day, as well and off site events such as Higher Options and Career Zoo. In addition, we introduced new initiatives such as familiarisation events for Guidance Councillor’s which were a great success and allowed us to showcase the college directly to a very influential segment of our target market.

With regards to the marketing campaigns throughout the year, we prepared a comprehensive plan of activity which incorporated a combination of print, radio, cinema, outdoor and online advertising. All elements of the plan were implemented by us from generating artwork to media buying and end of campaign evaluation.

Lastly, we managed the social media activity for IT Tallaght with at least one daily post relating to college events, news items, sporting news, student/college awards, social content and educational features.

The Outcome

Our working relationship with IT Tallaght lasted for almost 5 years in which time we were responsible for the development of exceptional relations with catchment schools, the creating of numerous successful marketing campaigns and events and an overall growth in brand awareness.
